Chaplin
Yesterday I watched "City Lights" by Charles Chaplin (thanks to my friend Ligia that lent it to me). Its an amazing movie, everybody should watch.
Unfortunately even tough other icons from the past like Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Twiggy, Bettie Page, James Dean, Sid Vicious, Kurt Kobain, Robert De Niro, Elvis Presley, James Morrison, etc are still talked about and venerated by the new generation, the genius Chaplin has been forgotten even by the most retro/vintage tribes.
Maybe because he was short and didn't look as cool as Sid Vicious...
Or maybe because he's hidden his alcoholism instead of being drunk on stage like James Morrison...
Maybe because he wasn't so beautiful as James Dean...
Or maybe because he shared with us a "nice" messages on his films, instead of being he the bad guy like De Niro...
I think maybe Chaplin is not talked about so much, due to the fact that he's framed on walls of conservationism, instead of being an anarchist bad boy, he is just a funny sad man that made our strict parents laugh.
Anyway, his art is mesmerizing and he deserves his position on the frame of artists to be remembered.
