Horses are beautiful and brave animals that mesmerize humans since pre-historical times. We know that by the drawings of horses on the walls of caves all around the globe. This is something any anthropologist would know.
What a lot of people do not know is that this decade is possible the decade which horses have been fascinating people most, in humans history!
A lot of this fascination is shown in the fashion industry. Some of the most important personalities in fashion are really into the equestrian theme. It is very understandable, as equestrianism and horses are two naturally elegant figures!
Madonna has shown her equestrian love together with Steven Klein in an edition of the W Magazine in 2003. Klein himself is a real fan of horses. He made many beautiful portraits of the animal, and I bet for him it was a great pleasure to shoot equestrian Madonna.
More recent popular equestrian shoot of Steven Klein was for the brand Loewe (first picture of the post). This one in 2008.
Another fashion personality that has shown a beautiful side of equestrianism as a fashion trend is the great John Galliano. He has made two collections in 2010 for the Maison Christian Dior with the equestrian theme:
Spring Couture
and Fall Ready to Wear.
As you can see on both shows this trend is used in really unlike styles. First more sexy and second more romantic. This is a very elegant trend that can be used as casual, and as much in a party look. To get into this trend, prepare your tight wasted blazers and your thigh-high boots.
Trend Lifestyles Teens- Body Consciousness Bandage Dress
One of the fashion items most talked about at the moment is the bandage dress (also called Bodycon or body conscious). Many of the famous women became fan of the item and has been seen wearing it many times (Victoria Beckham is one of them!). Its tightness on the body makes a very curvy look that only women with great confidence on their shape can afford. It is also obvious the reason why they get so much attention: they are really sexy!
The main brand responsible for the trend is Hervé Léger. Their latest collection by designer Max Azria (Fall-2010) invested in neutral colors and, as always, sexyness in curvers:
It is also possible to find the item everywhere else like Chanel, Carlos Miele, Lisa Marie Fernandez, D&G, Versace and many others. Also high-street brands such as Topshop, Miss Selfriges, Zara made their own version of the trend (with a more accessible price!).
It must be said that you really must have a good figure to wear the style. Sometimes the dress helps to hide little imperfections, but slim legs are a must for a bodycon dress!
It is possible to complement the dress with other items like a jacket, tights, belts, bracelets, knit wears, leggings, etc. It can look good with certain high leg shoes, but most of the time I would choose a basic high heel to avoid the "over sexy".
Good taste and wear them in the right circumstances are very important for its elegance too! Obviously, it is not the dress to go to a bank or daily shopping! It is a dress for special occasions; mostly evening events!
It is also possible to use the "bandage" or "bodycon" style not only on dresses, but also playsuits, skirts and pants. On the right side you can see Devon Akon in a bodycon playsuit by
Hervé Léger.
So if you have a special occasion which you want to look sexy and elegant, you know exactly where to go: body conscious!
Trend Lifestyles Teens-Photographers in Fashion
I am addicted to fashion photography! I must admit it is one of my main reasons to get expensive fashion magazines.
Fashion Photographers always try hard to experiment every way possible. They try with light, colors, shapes, movement and everything they can to get to the newest amazing image possible, which are going to mesmerize the viewers.
In such fascinating industry, to get respected and famous, you have to be surely good in what you are doing. Magazine editors are used to see the best of the best, so to get a publication, only the real outstanding in fashion photography can do.
Also an assiduous fashion magazine reader like myself do not get enthusiastic about every picture, so when I do to the point of even research about this photographer, is because we are talking about a special image.
So, here are some of those photographers that really impress me with their work.
Camilla Åkrans
She must be my favorite at the moment. It is incredible how Camilla makes an amazing picture out of nothing! I can see there are a lot of post-production with image manipulation in her work, but this is not easy to be done with such good taste as Camilla does. See, for example, this pictures published in the Numero magazine with the model Sasha Pivovarova:
The way the colors are worked on this pictures is just perfect! The burgundy with purple effect is really beautiful. On this other editorial you can see also a beautiful work with the colors:
It is really soft and as the main background is yellowish, the shadows are slightly purple, which makes a great contrast.
Here are some other beautiful pictures:
There you see how Camilla does not only work greatly with colors, but also with shadows and movement. I cannot get enough of her pictures!
Mariano Vivanco
Another great name from the new generation of fashion photographers is Mariano Vivanco. He is from Peru, as the famous photographer Mario Testino, and works for the biggest names in magazines. He seems to be getting bigger and bigger, and I could say that maybe he is going to be the new Testino in the future.
A lot of what fashion is about right now: beauty and freshness!
Miles Aldridge
English photographer Miles Aldridge does a kind of photography that makes me remember Lady Gaga style. This kind of surreal perfect horror-but-beautiful World is the hype of the moment. His pictures are most of the time really colorful and with eccentric subjects.
It is really eye catching, don't you think?
Sebastian Kim
He could not be any less than a great photographer: he used to watch the genius Richard Avedon! His pictures are mostly soft and with perfect post production. He also plays with the colors beautifully, but in my opinion his greatest talent is the shapy pictures:
Good taste. beautiful shapes and perfection are Sebastian Kim trade mark.
Sølve Sundsbø
He is one more photographer from the photoshop generation. The norwegian Sølve Sundsbø used to watch one of the British Vogue favorite photographers: Nick Night; and now he is a big hype in the fashion industry working for names such as Giorgio Armani, Givenchy, Gucci jewellery, Hermès, Lancôme, Estée Lauder, Yves Saint Laurent, Levis and Emanuel Ungaro. He also done many editorials for many of the important fashion magazines such as Another Man, Dazed and Confused, i-D, Japanese Vogue, Numero, Pop, Visionaire, V and W. Here are some of his work:
I would say Sølve uses technology for a great reason: making beautiful even more beautiful!
Yelena Yemchuk
She is an Ucranian photographer very famous for her work with the band Smashing Pumpkins (which she has done the art direction of the album Adore) and for her relationship with the singer Billy Corgan. Since then she became more and more famous in the fashion industry. During this decade she has done the photography for many Kenzo campaigns and also Very Wang and Christian Lacroix. Here some of her work:
Dark and feminine. Very good mix!
So after all, who of those artists of photography you think would be good enough to be the next Steven Meisel or Mario Testino?
Let's wait and see!
Trend Lifestyles Teens-Lolita Trend
Japanese street style inspiring fashion brands is nothing new. The way of dressing of the japanese teens, many times based on manga animes, is really unique and fun.
Right now the "Lolita" or "Gothic Lolita" is the main trend going on as it shows the picture above taken from the Japanese Numero magazine. There was its influence in the shows of many designers during the spring-summer shows for 2010, like Miu Miu, Prada, D&G, Marc Jacobs; and very strong in the Chanel and Anna Sui shows.
Besides the japanese fashion, the western fashion is also very centered in the youth and innocence of beauty right now. On the left you can see the Miu Miu Pre-fall outfit reminding the 90's teen movie "Clueless" and the Moschino Cheap & Chic look inspired in the Stanley Kubrick film "Lolita".
Here are some of the best designs from the spring shows, based on the Lolita trend:
Anna Sui
Chanel
The Lolita trend is also one of the most common in the fashion magazine Lula, aside with the Vintage trend. These two trends fit together beautifully and, as most people in the Occidental countries would not want such extreme look as the japanese Lolita, my tip for who wants to get the look without looking like dressed to a fancy dress party, is to mix these two trends as it is done by the Lula magazine:
Those are some editorials from other magazines showing some ways of using the Lolita fashion:
V Magazine, Numero and UK Vogue.
In the end, is just mix and match, a little bit of grandmas wardrobe, a little bit of japanese stores and some new items, be creative and enjoy the sweet moment of fashion.

The Best Fashion Magazines in the World
Fashion magazines are a necessary item in the life of any fashionista. There are many of them all around the World, focused in many different types of public, but which of them are the best right now?
When I mean "the best", I mean the ones all fashionistas would not want to miss an edition.
What ones supermodels would like to cover, or just have their faces stamped in their pages?
What fashion magazine people are constantly talking about, and has the power to change what is going on in the fashion business?
After reading a brazilian website which was suppose to number the best fashion magazines in the World, but managed to forget some of the most important, I decided to make my own version of the "It" magazines in the fashion business.
10. Flaunt
Started as a luxury magazine and over the years it became more focused in lifestyle, fashion and arts. Flaunt is an independent American magazine, which is a must have for those which fashion is just a part of their well informed lifestyle.
It has great editorials (as all main fashion magazines do), great covers and always some hype celebrities in unique interviews (plus photos!).
9. Dazed and Confused
Young, Innovative and groundbreaking, Dazed and Confused is a british magazine created by Jefferson Hack, one of the most important fashionistas in the british fashion scene. He has been chosen many times by the Vanity Fair magazine as one of the most elegant people, and also is the creator of the extinguished cult magazine "the Face".
So with someone so important behind of Dazed and Confused, you could not expect anything less than a great fashion magazine... But it is not really a fashion magazine! It is much more about general art and music, with a little bit of fashion.
Even not being really a fashion magazine, it is still one of the most influential in the fashion business, featuring always great editorials, and a lot of what is going on in popular culture.
I would say Dazed and Confused is almost a hipster magazine. There are just so much about underground art and life style that would make any young Londoner or New Yorker satisfied.
8. Tank
I must say that, even though I lived in the UK for two years, I never saw or heard about the Tank Magazine. As a model, I was dealing all the time with the fashion Londoners, so it is not that I was not in the right place and the right time.
Anyway, it does not change that the Tank magazine is one of the most important and pioneering fashion magazines in the World... and unfortunately I only found that out through random fonts (so I did not have my own copy to look through yet!).
By looking at their blog and website, I can see that the magazine is made by super well informed fashionistas. In more than ten years of existence, they always kept pushing originality and the best of fashion. Some even say they published Nathalia Vodianova on the cover before she was famous! That shows how visionary is the team behind Tank.
7. AnOther Magazine
The "about us" in their website says everything: "AnOther Magazine's launch in 2001 heralded a new chapter in magazine publishing. Its blend of high fashion and world-class photography with features on the arts, politics and literature continues to make each beautifully crafted edition a collectors’ item."
The magazine comes out only twice a year and it is expensive! It also has a version for men called "Another Man". I would say this is one for the high class fashionistas. Those who go to all hype expensive events in town. The VIP's!
Well... not really!
It is also for everyone that enjoys beautiful photography. It is fully filled with beautiful pictures in a great size. Editorials with the highest ranked supermodels of the moment, great innovative photographers and posh styling. If you want to see beautiful fashion and know what is going on between the high class fashionistas, AnOther Magazine is your magazine.
6. Love
It must be the fashion magazine most talked about in the World right now. The new creation of Kate Grand, which is also the founder of the other great fashion magazine "Pop", only has three issues out, and shaked the whole World of fashion... and not fashion!
First of all with Bette Ditto on the cover of their first issue. Featuring a large woman, instead of a skinny top model is really brilliant and unexpected from such magazine.
In the third issue, they strike again! Kate Moss, Lara Stone and Naomi Campbel between 8 beauties with different body shapes, totally naked on the cover. Obviously newspapers and fashion information points in the World had to publish a comment about it! Including the british "the guardian" and the Vogue magazine itself!
If you like it or not, Love magazine is the one to keep the eye on right now. A must have item for who likes fashion, made by a great team of fashion addicts trying their best to change this business to better.
5. V Magazine
I would say V is the greatest American fashion magazine that is also focused in the mainstream, because it still keeps the chic together with the unique fashion style.
You could not expect anything less from the same team that makes the magazine Visionare. It is an A class... or V class as they would say! In its issues you will find editorials with many international photographers and the top top models. It has a lot of information in many other subjects of art and lifestyle, such as celebrities, music, cinema, architecture and art general.
It is filled with a lot of the material left out of the Visinaire. But do not start thinking it is just the rest of some random magazine! Read ahead and you'll understand that the being the rest of that magazine is a great reason to buy it!
4. i-D
Pioneer, unique, groundbreaking: the i-D magazine is one of kind in fashion. The first and still best magazine to speak for the youth and street style. This bimonthly british mag started in 1980 and is famous for bringing up new talents in photography and general fashion.
There are few books published about their unique editorials and covers. Most famous top models and many artists in cinema and music have been present on the cover or pages of the i-D magazine.
It not only talks about young and international street fashion, it also shows a lot of music, cinema, art and popular culture. Everything in their unique way.
3. Numéro
Finally a french... and it had to be between the top three! Actually there are the French, and the Japanese version of the Numéro, but the French is the first and founder of the name.
Numéro is the most important originally french fashion magazine. It has the highest standard of photography. It is mostly directed to the high class fashionistas as the Another Magazine, but you can see that it is more french and more focused on elegance.
Opposed to other french fashion magazines such as L'Officel and Marie Claire, Numero is more directed to a group of women that would prefer to read about art, music, architecture, cinema and couture fashion, instead of celebrities, gossip and high street fashion.
2. Vogue
The first and still the most important and influential fashion magazine in the World, and the one that dictates the rules that are going to be followed by millions of submissive fashionistas all arond the Globe.
Originally American, Vogue has now versions in many countries. The most important versions are the Italian, French and British. Each country adds to Vogue its style, but what all have in common is that where there are a version of Vogue, it is the most important fashion magazine.
In the end, Vogue does not require introductions. If you like fashion, you definitely know it!
1. Visionaire
The most unique magazine in the World. I am not sure if I can call it a magazine, because it comes in different shapes that could be considered many other things besides a magazine.
It is also one of the most wanted in the fashion Industry. It comes in a limited amount of copies, so who wants one, need to work really hard to get it!
The team that makes the Visionaire are totally brilliant in what they do. They put together all the coolest things going on in the most unique way.
Unfortunately as it is really rare and disputed, I never had the opportunity to see a Visionaire magazine in person, so I cannot give greater details. I have to be content only with their website information and images... but I must say, that is already pretty impressive!
P.S.: My favorite Fashion Magazine: Lula
It would not be between the 10 most important fashion magazines, but Lula is still one of the best for sure!
It is a sweet magazine made for girls. Beautiful editorials with a lot of vintage styling and poetry. All put together looking like a dreamy fairy tale. It is also british and posted only twice a year.
Definitely my favorite!

Trend Lifestyles Teens-Between the Chic... and the Freak?
It is not hard to notice that the fashion industry love to use as commercial strategy everything that can visually shock the society. To keep being talked about is the trick! From extreme extravagance to extreme sexuality - designers, photographers and magazines have been pushing the public to the limit of their imagination, and influencing all marketers to do the same.
After around 30 years of extreme fashion, the newest group of trendys seem to be using a dreamy ideal of perfection mixed with a little bit of horror, that to many people can look like... weird?
To start with, the queen of the trend: Lady Gaga!
For those who remember our Lady's first appearances, she was just another super star, with great songs, great voice and a lot of make up... and also a pretty plastic style.
In each single, video and new performance, Lady Gaga is exploring more, as she says, her obsession for fashion, mixed with a little bit of horror. This crazy mix seems to be the way to go these days: some really hate it, but keep it going for talking about it, others (most I believe) love it, and buy it!
After some performances in important awards, Lady Gaga's looks were getting a lot of attention for the extravagance and unique style. Besides shocking many, she was selling more and getting more and more required. So, as Britney Spears said: "they want more, I'll give them more!"
In her newest album, the single "Bad Romance", besides having by itself an unusual theme, the music video more than ever was arranged to shock some people, and amaze some fashionistas.
For me it feels like a crazy story that could be made a picture by Steven Klein, directed by a mix of David Lynch, Sam Raimi and Tim Burton... with a little bit of Madonna. Can you imagine it?
... Just watch it!
MySpace Horror Superstar: Jeffree Star
It is just not possible to look at Jeffree Star for one single second and do not look again! His style is an extreme "look-at-me". That is not a bad thing at all this days!
His singing career might not be as successful as Lady Gaga's. Probably because it is too extreme for mainstream, talking about murders, bulimia, drugs and personalities disorders. Anyway, he conquested a Worldwide fan base with his glamorous horror fashionista style, only posting public pictures in his profile in the networking website "Myspace.com". Here is Jeffree's MySpace profile:
Together with that, Jeffree has many haters in internet websites and gets also some bullies in the street. His drag-queen-bulimic-bitch look can be too shocking for the most conservative people. Although what matters is that Jeffree, as his name says, is a Star and is making money and doing well even with the haters trying to push him down. Besides being a singer and an eccentric model, he is a very good make up artist.
Jeffree is a proof that to be very successful, you have to get some people angry and talking about you.

Trend Lifestyles Teens-Beautiful Street Style... Maryna Linchuk
The Belorussian beauty Maryna Linchuk is one of the most required models at the moment... and my favorite (I'm always changing the position, but right now it is her!).
Being tall, slim and blond like her, it is easy to look good and elegant. Also helps when professionals of fashion are dressing you up and making you pretty.
In Maryna's case it's irrelevant! She seems to know how to look great also without any professional tip, because her daily wear, chosen by herself, is also awesome!
Here are some of her street shots:

And in parties:
We must admit... the girl, besides being stunning, has a great style!
